EHSAN SIGNS A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH TALABAT

In the presence of a large number of community leaders, the Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan) launched the Creativity Boxes Initiative under the slogan “You Can Do It", which is a community initiative submitted by Mrs. Sheikha Al-Kubaissi to Ehsan Center. The center, in turn, adopted the initiative and developed it within the framework of its policy to encourage individual and institutional social responsibility which is part of the center's projects. As part of the program, the Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan) and Talabat signed a joint memorandum of understanding to serve the elderly. The signing of this memorandum stems from the main role of the Center towards promoting the idea of empowering the elderly, supporting their active participation in all fields and recognizing their role and contributions to social, economic and cultural development, spreading societal awareness of their basic rights and issues, working to achieve intergenerational communication, and emphasizing the role of the family in their care and limiting sheltering. The Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan) and Talabat seek, through the memorandum, to strengthen the cooperation between them, and to achieve their common goals of supporting the beneficiary groups, providing them with appropriate care in the best possible way, and strengthening the links between the two parties to support the beneficiary groups, especially the elderly. Khaled Abdullah: The initiative aims to highlight the role of elderly women and enhance their abilities For his part, Mr. Khaled Abdullah, Acting Executive Director of Ehsan Center, stated that the Creativity Boxes Initiative is part of the approved projects in the strategic plan of the center to empower elderly and raise awareness of their ability to remain productive. He pointed out that Talabat company will deliver the boxes to the members. He added that the initiative aims to highlight the role of older women and enhance their abilities, stressing the keenness of Ehsan Center to achieve cooperation, mobilization, support and advocacy through a series of community partnerships in the country and the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding with government and private state institutions, bodies and civil society institutions. He added that Ehsan Center sincerely thanks those in charge of Talabat application for their cooperation and support for Ehsan Center, hoping that cooperation between the two sides will continue in a way that benefits the target groups and in turn expands the scope of Ehsan Center’s services and goals. Ms. Sheikha al-Kubaisi, who suggested the initiative, explained that the idea of the creativity boxes is based on delivering gift boxes to participating elderly women. The boxes contain tools for simple handicrafts, which they can use to make products. The box also contains an educational video explaining to the participants how to use the tools in the box. She explained that the center will display these products in local exhibitions and open the way for visitors to view and buy them, stressing that the center aims, through this initiative, to empower elderly women, develop their skills, support their self-confidence, highlight their hobbies and productivity, and encourage communication between generations, where mothers will make the crafts with their family members. She explained that the workshops will include "wax, perfume, decoupage, "baffy" thread and wool bags." The workshops target women from the age of 60 as well older women families, children and grandchildren. She explained that the conditions for participation in the program is that the member is a citizen or resident of Qatar aged 60 years and above. Each participant can choose one box only, and register by calling the number provided in the announcement of the initiative on the Center's web site and social media accounts. For his part, Francisco Miguel Sousa, General Manager of Talabat Qatar, said: "We are proud of our partnership with Ehsan Center to support the elderly in Qatar. Through this partnership, we will deliver the boxes that were prepared for them by Ehsan Center, as part of Talabat’s commitment to the local community in Qatar.”
